Entity: Higgins is always telling us to be happy and then you will have the things you want, your life will be quite pleasant and agreeable. I have seen wealthy people who are not happy, so how did they get wealthy and maintain their wealth if happiness is not the key? Many of us want more money and Higgins says happiness is the key to getting what you want. But clearly manifesting money isn’t based on happiness. There is some other clue, what is it? It must be true for manifesting anything. What is the clue in people not being happy but having money and people who are happy but don’t have money?
P: The question becomes “how do you determine that what you want is really going to make you happy?” I am asking for more money so that I can feel secure. When I get more money I still don’t feel secure.
Entity: The question is “how did people get wealthy if happiness is not the key? (lots of comments on this until one of us said, Why not ask Higgins?)
Higgins: Let’s breathe for 3 minutes. Pull yourself together.
We have been working with you quite a long time and we have explained creation in many different ways. We recognize that happiness is a key in your physical life experience and so we encourage it more strongly, perhaps more than other things. One of the most important things of being human is finding and seeking your happiness and following your joy. It continually surprises us that that seems very hard to you. That following your joy is somehow difficult and sometimes even objectionable. We really focus on helping you find happiness and coach you towards happiness. To answer the question, there are lots of ways to create. The reason that some people can create wealth without having happiness or some people can do extraordinary things in their job without enjoying their job (this is not just about money but creation in general) is because they believe they can create. If you believe money is for you then so it is. It doesn’t matter what emotional state you’re in. People do extraordinary work in their chosen field without necessarily liking the job b/c they know they can and do. Or, they believe they have to and they must so they do. That is the answer in a nutshell, it is b/c they believe that they can.
We might step further into this question and say “Higgins, why don’t you teach believing much?” We teach it all the time but perhaps you just are now hearing it. We encourage you to start building your believing muscles by creating small things first. We have often used the metaphor of deciding you want a new pair of shoes. You know that you can get a new pair of shoes and have done so many, many times. If you want a new pair of red shoes, for looking a certain way or to go with a certain outfit, you start your intention process. We encourage you to write down what you want, to frame in your mind the aspects of the things that you want and then expect it to happen. That is like body building, start with a little weight then create bigger and bigger.
The reason that wealth is taking longer for some of you is the belief part of it and the lack of realization of how much prosperity you already have. If you will acknowledge -with great frequency- what you DO have then it creates a smoother path into receiving of the things that you are wanting.
P: I’m beginning to look at belief and seeing that for many of us before we can believe we sort of have to get over the training we had of “show me. I can’t believe it until I see it, feel it, experience it.” I know that’s true for me. When I was working I was always worrying about the next paycheck and how to pay the next bill. Money was elusive. Then when I retired, I actually have about the same amount of money being retired that I had when working. But it is stable. I no longer was afraid of losing my job for various reasons. So I could be comfortable with the idea “oh, I have money.” My belief changed about money.
The shoe story is very applicable. I wanted some shoes for winter that cost $130. In the summer I started saying “I need that new pair of shoes for winter.” I started thinking about it but NOT worrying about it, believing I would get the shoes. Two months ago I found those same shoes, brand new, for $12 in the thrift store. I am beginning to see that if I don’t insist on the empirical view of I have to see it, feel it, touch it and just believe it’s going to happen, it’s easier to believe it after it has happened a few times. It is easier to believe I can be financially secure after I’m financially secure. It’s easier to believe I’ll have the shoes if I don’t worry about how soon I have to have them and can I afford them and then they just appear in the nicest way. The belief part is the grand experiment for me right now. Can I believe it without having scientific proof?
H: We very much appreciate what you are saying b/c that’s 100% truth. It’s very easy to feel comfortable with money once you have achieved enough money. We’re trying to coach you toward being able to feel like you have the thing that you want before it arrives in your life. Feel that way, act that way. We are not saying spend money you don’t have. We are saying feel as though it already exists in your life. It’s easy to do once you have it.
When you, yourself, had that realization there was a shift in you that said “oh I’ve got it now.” Things will not just be easier in the moment but things will continue to be easier for you throughout your retirement b/c you already feel as though you have enough. Finances will presumably get easier based on that.
Going back to the shoes, once you set your intention on shoes and you let it slide till they arrived now you are building muscles b/c you tried it once and it worked superbly well. When you have those moments when something works superbly well that is again another click in your mind “oh that’s how you do it.” Once you know how to do it, you do it over and over again. It’s just the first time when you don’t know that creating it is difficult.
P: The value of writing it down you can go back and see that the thing you wanted you got. That reinforces my belief. I’m having to unlearn things about some beliefs in order to believe and note that I was successful with the shoes.
H: The shoes are an excellent example b/c they are so achievable when you are trying to achieve something. The entity wants to be a published author. She doesn’t know how to do it. She writes the notes, but the belief isn’t there. She thinks the words but don’t FEEL the words. The importance of writing down the words is not writing the words, it is FEELING the words that you write or think; feeling the joy that you would have b/c you achieved the thing that you want.
P: What is there between wanting and being happy and having wealth? The feeling part is missing.
H: You have to FEEL what it feels like to be wealthy before you know what it feels like -which is quite difficult.
P: Wanting good health. Belief requires feeling not j just thinking.
H: To get where you are going requires feeling. It’s the emotion that takes you there. Which is why we say if you want a fantastic vacation look in magazines to get ideas. If you want a new look or new outfit or new car, look around, books, magazines, or go to the mall, look at other people. Get your inspiration so that you know what it is that you want. Then begin figuring out how to believe you already have it. Feel you already have it.
We have talked with some of you and encouraged you to act as though you already have the thing you want. For example, money. Then that person went out and spent money they don’t have b/c they said “I have to act like I have money.” The problem with doing that is spending money you don’t have puts you in debt and you know that you are in debt. So, you have to virtually spend the money. “I could buy this. I have the money. I’m not going to buy it today, but I could if I wanted to.” That is the sort of thought process that starts moving you to any goal. As you start to FEEL as though you already could have it, as though you already DO have it, as though it is already a DONE DEAL. Achieved.
P: The other day I decided that I’m going to be happy. It doesn’t matter what is happening outside. I’ve heard the saying “fake it till you make it.” I felt very powerful as the meditation at the beginning tonight. I can show my peacefulness, joy and happiness.
H: One of the most powerful words you just used is “decide.” We have used the metaphor that if you want to walk from here to there, you don’t really know how you do it, you just decide you will and you do. You’ve done it many times and you know that you can and so you do. You decide your energy will run a certain way through your body (we do that each week)) and expect that it will and it does b/c you have told it to. That’s the same with everything about creation- once you’ve said “this is what I want and decided it is true,” then it’s true.
We’ve talked a lot about “wanting.” We’ve talked about the myriad bits of information coming at you and you’re sifting through all that and deciding those things you like and want more of. Once you have decided what you want then you decide to have it. Then you go forward expecting it will show up and do what you are inspired to do. That is exactly how creation works: You see a “want”, you decide you will have it, you go forward taking steps to achieve it. That’s really helpful in answering the entity’s question.
After focusing on wanting, we started focusing more on happiness b/c your happiness is the most important thing. Well, trying to create something that doesn’t materialize only creates greater unhappiness. If you cannot achieve the thing you desire, then your emotion about your lack of achievement is getting in the way of your creation. This is just another method of creating that which you want. The expectation part is quite difficult for you. You can say “I want this” and then you can think it and state it w/o deciding on it. Do you understand the difference?
P: No.
H: Friend, (what they said to Participant was missed). You can say, “I want to be healthy. I want to believe that cancer is gone.” But you don’t really believe it. You can state it but if the emotion that being cancer free would bring to you does not come with your thought or word then eradication of the cancer doesn’t come with it. Do you follow us now?
P: Yes.
H: If you can get happy, happiness is an emotion that is not compatible with you being ill. That’s a way to get around a direct path – the direct path being “I want to believe I am cancer free; I want to be completely healthy”—and then not believing it.
Stating in your mind, then having the thought is not the same as FEELING it. If you cannot master the feeling, then we encourage you to go towards happiness. It also goes back to answering the entity’s question. People who have a lot of money get sick. Money does not bring happiness or good health or any other things. Money is just a fun tool for some of you. It’s just a thing to get.
P: I have a strong desire to heave healing of the earth.
H: Do you mean the earth itself or the goings on? We think you are talking about what is going on on the planet. You have a desire to help. Each one of you as an individual -the thing that you have to do to heal the planet is not very big. When we talk to friend, S, about the recovery café, we say, she is doing her part. You go to the café and help other human beings be their best self. You support them in their “recovery” (their goals). There is nothing more important than that. There is nothing more she has to do. You are practicing being peace and kindness and happy. You uplift and support others. You are doing exactly what you need to do to help in the situation we are having. Further help is always to think positively about the situation, not LIKE the situation, but think positively that good things are coming out of what appears to be bad.
What we encourage is for each one of you to look at what you do not like and do something about it. We are not saying climb mountains. We are saying do what you have the capacity to do. So, let’s look at this group of 8 people and us tonight. Once a week, nearly every week of the year we talk about positivity, about how to live your lives more harmoniously, we meditate for peace. This is a group that tries to be good people in the world. Every single one of you is doing something to heal the planet. We’re not saying do something hard. We are saying live your life in harmony with the thing that you want. The most difficult aspect of your society right now is that you are not in agreement with the current president, his cabinet and the things they are doing. Would that be truth?
Group: YES.
H: IF YOU CONTIUE TO FOCUS ON HOW DISAGREEBLE YOU FIND THIS, YOU WILL KEEP IT HERE. If you continue to focus on the positive things that are happening or potentially could be happening or are happening that aren’t related to the president, etc. you will only contribute to the continuation of the events that are upsetting to you. If instead you will focus instead on what S is doing in the recovery café, or other positive things you will stop fanning the flames of the issues you do not want. REMOVE YOUR ATTENTION FROM THAT WHICH YOU DO NOT WANT. (WE SAY THIS TWICE.) We stress find your way to happiness any way you can b/c that removes your focus from that which you do not want.
P: That is very hard for me. The things I do not want are very interesting to me. I’m interested in what B said about the troops going to Greenland. I had not heard that. I’m interested in what is going on.
H: Interest is one thing, but ruminating in a negative way is very different thing.
P: I want to keep thinking about these things. I am very interested in what is happening.
H: Again, it is going back to the emotions you have when entertaining these thoughts. So, as you feel yourself right now, you are eager, enthusiastic, inspired to ask questions and stimulate conversation. These are positive emotions and it is different from dwelling on a topic you are interested in a negative way. When you dig into something that you are interested in this is how you find your purpose in life. Friend, S, how did you find the recovery café?
P: I was looking for something to do when I retired.
H: Interest is something that stimulates you to find activities, books to read, people to talk to. It is interest and inspiration that inspires you to move toward that thing and that is where you find your happiness. Friend, M, when you are interested in what is going on in Greenland, the interest is a positive stimulation for you to look at that. You are always looking for ways to get involved and stay relevant in the world. When you find something that you are interested in you pursue that as far as your interest carries you. For example, when there was a ship stuck in the canal, you wrote a 3-part poem. That came out of your interest. It was an excellent poem. Will you write a 3-part poem about Greenland?
P: I hadn’t thought about it.
H: Where we’re going with this: Whatever your skills and abilities and interests, your interests can be expressed using your skills and abilities. We just can’t stress enough to follow up on the things you are interested in. We’re not talking about dwelling in negativity. We’re talking about looking for something constructive in it. If a conversation is in itself uplifting or interesting to you, then maybe that is enough b/c that emotion of feeling positive and uplifted is what you’re really looking for all the time.
