Affirmations vs. Pre-Paving

Someone asked Higgins about the difference between affirmations and pre-paving. Pre-paving is a term I first heard from Abraham-Hicks and Higgins uses it in the same way. From Psychology Today: Affirmations are positive statements that help people build self-esteem. Pre-paving is setting intention for a desired outcome in advance.

To help our understanding Higgins has given me an affirmation and a pre-paving statement.

Affirmation: I am an excellent employee working with other excellent employees.

Pre-paving: Through the power of my intention I am going to draw the best from my co-workers tomorrow. They will be helpful, cooperative, and pleasant to be around. We will interact appropriately to get the job done well. We will all be at the top of our game. Those we serve will benefit from our cooperative attitudes. We will make good decisions that enhance quality, productivity and safety. Our bosses will notice and appreciate our effort. It is a good day.
