Utopia or Natural Order of Things?

Question:    You mentioned in the post dated January 3, 2015 something about money-less societies that do not use trade or barter. I’ve heard of that before and think of that as a sort of utopia. Recently, though, I heard from a different source, not you, that it would not be utopia but instead simply the natural order of things.

Is a truly money-less system, without trade and without barter, the natural order of things?

Higgins:     To give freely of oneself for one’s greatest happiness and expansion is the natural order. It is what God does. Use money or trade and barter or don’t. If you do choose to use money use it gently.

Does Money Have Value?

Question:     Does money have value? I’m not asking about how much a dollar is worth, I refer instead to the concept of money.

Higgins:     Money is a useful tool. Money is compact, portable and easily traded for goods and services. It is however also perfectly acceptable to construct a money-less system. Both have advantages. A money-less system that does not involve trade or barter supports the greatest potential for expansion of the mind.

The most important thing, really, for you to consider regarding money is whether it is worth the value you give it. It is a man-made construct and should be taken lightly and used as the tool it is. Money is not inherently evil but has come to be used inappropriately much of the time. The more important thing to consider is whether each of you has found your happy thing. If you have, money is likely flowing easily and being used as the relatively unimportant but convenient tool that it is.

Quoting Henry Ford

Cheryl:     I got scolded this morning. Here it is…..

Higgins:     “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.”
~Henry Ford~

Each of you has Spirit Guides that assist you in achieving your goals. They do so by inspiring interest within. Subsequently, you are guided by your emotions as to whether you are moving in the right direction or the wrong direction….sort of like a game of Hot and Cold.

You all receive the impulses just fine. You all receive the guiding emotions just fine. You simply do not follow them to the letter. Then you complain because life isn’t the way you want it to be. Our response is as Yoda said, “Do or do not. There is no try.”

Romans 8:28 King James Version ~ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Each of you is “called” by inspiration and inclination to a “purpose” (thing that will bring you happiness when you do it, develop skill to do it well, and do it with heart). “Loving God” means loving yourself, trusting yourself enough to follow your call with all your heart, mind and soul. We tell you absolutely that if you do this, the Universe will move for you. “All things working together for good to them that love God” is the Universe moving to accommodate your needs and desires as the reflection of God that you are.

Envision a picture of a magnificent snowy mountain reflected in a still lake.  God is the beautiful snowy mountain. The Earth realm is the still lake. You are the reflection of the mountain in the lake. The more you love God (as defined in the previous paragraph) the clearer, purer your reflection in the lake.

You are loved and respected. Hold love and respect for yourself. Then act accordingly.

Do not quaver. Do not flinch. Just do it and do it with kindness.

The Kindness Paradigm (44)

It is important to understand that within a paradigm of kindness none other is diminished. While others may not choose to live their lives as fully as they might, your choosing to live your life fully diminishes no one.

We are not planning terrorist attacks, shootings, murders or robberies when we are happy with the direction our lives are taking. So find your thing and pursue it. Help everyone around you find and pursue their thing. It will bring about the change we all seek in the world.

How to Pursue the Heart’s Desires

Question:     How does one pursue their heart’s desires? You talked about our inclinations being bumpers that keep us in line, moving towards happiness. Truthfully, I don’t see a lot of people thriving the way I think they would if they were living out their heart’s desires like you talk about.

Higgins:     Yes. You are right about that. Most of you do not express exuberance regarding life. Let’s take your dog for example.

(Note from Cheryl: I asked this question. My dog is a seven or eight year old chocolate lab that I adopted from the Everett Animal Shelter when he was about 6 or 8 months old.)

This dog does everything happily but when it comes to tennis balls he leaves absolutely whatever he is doing to fetch that ball. He will fetch to exhaustion with joy and then beg for more. This fellow does the same job, ball fetching, every day of his life and yet each time you show him the ball he responds with the same intense enthusiasm.

His job is simple. He goes to where the ball is. Picks it up. Brings it back to you. Yet, he performs his job with joy every single time despite any hazards. Blackberry bushes, hot weather, cold weather, rain, snow, ice, cold water, coyotes and porcupines add a certain dimension of danger to every hunt.  He has from time to time cut himself on sharp objects and hurt his feet. His muscles certainly must ache with the effort he applies. Still, he leaps with joy when you show him the ball.

This is a dog that follows his heart’s desires. He differs from you and most people in that he knows what makes him happy and he doesn’t EVER think, “Woe is me. All I do well is run after a stupid ball and bring it back. It’s totally pointless.” Or, “Ugg. This is so stupid. I want to do something meaningful.” This dog finds his greatest joy in things people often consider too small and insignificant to count.

Let’s think back to your mother’s last dog. Oliver was a love machine and wouldn’t chase a ball. It wasn’t in him to do that. But he loved well. He never once felt bitterness because he wasn’t an enthusiastic ball chaser. He just loved everyone he came in contact with in the best way he knew every day of his life. That was enough for him because loving was him.

This is the point you are missing as you follow your heart’s desires. So many of you pass over the parts of yourself that love well or find pleasure in simple things in order to express a part of you that produces income. You sacrifice your happiness to pay the bills.

It is entirely possible for each of you to gain financial support doing something you love to do. The birds do it, the fish do it, your dog does it and you can do it.

We want you to start today by unapologetically taking time to do something you enjoy. Take the time to do it thoroughly and well. Rediscover how much fun it is to play Frisbee or take a walk with a friend. What you will discover is you are the only thing getting in the way of you enjoying life. You will start wanting to make change and blame not being able to have more time to enjoy yourself on your job or the system. Stop that. The world will shift to accommodate your desires as you simmer in deep and abiding appreciation for the activity you are engaged in.

That is the clincher. You must allow the world to get up and move for you while you immerse yourself in deep and abiding appreciation for the activity you are engaged in. Like a dog, you will feel that deep and abiding appreciation for everything that comes your way. When you are lucky enough to spend a little time doing the thing you really love to do you will do it with gusto. Then you will do all the rest of the things you have to do with gusto, too. While you are doing this the world will shift and more and more of the time you will find yourself doing things you truly enjoy.

This is an important aspect of following the heart’s desires.

Follow the Heart’s Desires

Question:     What do you mean by ‘following the heart’s desires’?

Higgins:     When you, any of you, have an inclination towards something or away from something, that inclination is information designed to guide you. These inclinations are a sort of steering system controlled by the Broader Being. This Broader Being knows what is right and wrong for you and also those things that will make you very happy.

Let’s envision the game of bowling. There is a long lane (life) with pins set up at the end of the lane. The pins represent things that make you happy. The gutter on either side of the lane is the unhappy place. There are bumpers on either side of the lane for learners. Liken these bumpers to inclinations that inform you to avoid something. (You know, like when you just don’t want to do something and you don’t know why exactly but it just doesn’t sound right for you.)

The pins on the other hand…the pins, when you think about knocking them down, that makes you happy. Happy:  That’s the goal. The bumpers, your inclinations for and against, keep you from dropping in the gutter…the unhappy place you don’t want to go.

Now you, the bowling ball, start off down the long lane of life trying to knock down as many pins as possible because that makes you happy. That is what we mean by following the heart’s desires. The heart informs you (the body and Earth Soul in combination is you) what makes you happy based on what the Broader Soul knows about you.

When you do what makes you happy you are following your heart’s desires. It is up to each of you as individuals to determine (by following those inclinations) those things that make you happy. Furthermore, the purity of the happiness you follow is important. Happiness at the expense of others is impure. Happiness that harms none is pure.

Following the heart towards happiness in this way leads to the discovery of each person’s unique  ‘It’ thing. Every person is born with a personal gift or gifts and it is the following of the heart towards happiness that will lead to the discovery of these gifts. The development of skill in these gifts leads to greater happiness and the more the gift is shared the happier one becomes, assuming that a gentle balance is maintained in the overall life picture.

You Are Equally Important

I’ve been contemplating this from Higgins:

You (humans) are not created equal. What you are is equally important.

The Kindness Paradigm (42)

Life is about the pursuit of happiness. It is about finding happiness and that ‘it’ thing. Whatever ‘it’ is for you is where you will find your happiness.

The Kindness Paradigm (41)

We are obligated by birth to pursue and explore our interests. We each are gifted at something. It is our duty to find that thing and live our lives in the thrill of doing that thing. Why? Because one cannot feel both gloomy and thrilled at the same time…or sick and thrilled or angry and thrilled….A person may only feel one emotion at a time and it may as well be thrilled.
