How Do We Cope in a World of Unkindness?

As I prepare to publish Ask Higgins, Volume Two, I came across this old post and thought you’d like to read it again.     Cheryl-

Question:  I do think that I was brought up to be kind to people.  I think it is a huge source of stress, frustration, that most people I meet are not kind.  That stress can cause and has caused health problems in me and in some other folks who were raised to be kind.  I do agree that for the most part the majority of the world does not have the kindness paradigm.  However, for those of us who do, or did, or have a little of it, how do we cope in the world of mostly  “not kind” folks????

Higgins: This question is a tempestuous sea of energy. Let’s try to sort it out. And Friend, read this slowly, sentence by sentence and paragraph by paragraph.

There are exceedingly few of you whose parents, or those doing the child rearing, do not make some attempt to teach kindness to their charges. However, in a society that has no kindness paradigm how can kindness be taught? Few of you know what it is to be kind and there is significant difference between kind acts and kindness. Kind acts can be taught and learned but kindness comes from inside.

So when you say most people you meet are not kind we’d suggest that what you are experiencing is someone (with perhaps exactly the same understanding of kindness that you have) who failed, in your presence, to express the kind acts they’ve been taught.

Genuine kindness and compassion is part of each of your Truths. This physical place is often scary and stressful for the harshness is out of synch with the very foundation of what you are. Though it is certain that carrying around incompatible vibration eventually leads to illness and dis-ease, illness is not developing in you because others are not kind. Illness and disease develop because you have forgotten to hold fast to your own Truth. You simply may not lay the blame of your ill-health on another for any reason.

To cope in a harsh world, one that overflows with behavior that is out of synch with Truth, one must develop compassion–for true kindness is a reflection of compassion. And that is how you cope. You develop compassion. You reflect true kindness. Then the universe will reflect the Truth you express right back at you, which is all it ever does anyway.

Hanford Nuclear Reservation

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi taught us Transcendental Meditation, and lead us to the discovery of the Maharishi Effect.

James Twyman has recently conducted meditations globally to promote peace.

Masaru Emoto showed us pictures of water responding to thought, and to words.

In this same vein, I have been working with Higgins for many years now, to harness and direct the energy from our meditations to local and world issues. Some of the meditations/topics we’ve been addressing are a global Friendly Spirit of Cooperation, stabilization of weather patterns for Africa, and radioactivity at Hanford Nuclear Reservation.

Hanford Nuclear Reservation is my special pet project. If we affect the world around us with our thoughts, if we interact with an unseen field, then we can affect things like water quality, weather, oil spills, garbage in the oceans, humanitarian crises and radioactivity.

My goal with Hanford Nuclear Reservation (HNR) is to use meditation to put out the radioactivity the way water is used to put out a fire.

Check out the websites below to see how meditation is being applied by different countries around the globe in the spirit of national security and non-violent defense.

Emotions Are Street Signs

Higgins:  Negative emotions are not punishments for previous deeds. Negative emotions are indicators that you need to change your thoughts. Street signs…that’s all emotions are.

Only humans continue to punish themselves after making a mistake. Animals do not do this. Mistakes are only miss-steps. Stop punishing yourselves for miss-steps. Instead, use your negative feelings about things to find your true path in this world. We assure you that looking around to identify what you don’t like and then pursuing a solution is the surest way to your happiness.

More on Suicide

Question:  I was recently reading your post “Regarding Suicide.” Is it true that if we commit suicide, we do not learn the lessons we intended to learn when we planned our lives in spirit? If we commit suicide, do we have to come back to learn those lessons? Or can it be that suicide is the lesson and we don’t have to come back to re-experience the heartache that brought us to that point?

Higgins:  We cannot answer this question with a yes or no because each of you is different. Each of you is unique. You choose a general life direction for the value it will be to you. Then, you expect that your Broader Self will monitor your every thought, word and action and give you feedback. Feedback comes in the form of emotions. If you are close to what you planned for yourself your Broader Self gives you emotions that feel good. If you are not thinking, speaking and acting in ways that you planned for yourself, your Broader Self stimulates bad feeling emotions.

Emotions are information. When you feel bad, you are being instructed to change the direction of your thoughts.

Let’s think about driving in a car. If you program your navigation system with an address it will tell you which way to go. If you make a wrong turn it will tell you to turn around and go the other way. It will keep on telling you to go the other way until you do.

Your emotions are the same. you will keep receiving negative feelings until you change your thoughts.

Many people consider suicide. It is a natural flow of thought when you feel bad. But suicide is drastic. If you were to follow through with such a thing, you’d get back to the other side and gain a clearer viewpoint. From that clearer viewpoint you would say, “Oh! Now I get it!” And you would be eager to jump back into a body and try again.

Our question to you is, “Why not stick around and try to figure it out?” The emotional pain you are experiencing right now is about perspective. Your Broader You wants you to look at this situation differently, that’s why you feel so bad.

Try changing your thoughts. You’ll find that it’s work at first. Nevertheless, persist in choosing only thoughts that bring relief. When your mind floats off, thinking thoughts that bring pain, change the direction of your thoughts. We’re not looking for that happiest thought you ever had, just one that feels a little bit better than before. That’s all. Just a little bit better and then a little bit better.

Regarding Depression

This was originally posted in 2011 and seems to be appropriate again.

Offering from Higgins:

Many of you are experiencing significant depression. We have a few suggestions should you decide that depression does not suit you.

Once you discover that a thing doesn’t suit you. Choose what does. For example, if depression doesn’t suit you then choose a word that does fit you–enthusiastic is a nice option.

Now, depression is at one end of a metaphorical block. Enthusiasm is at the other end of the street. To get from depression to enthusiasm you must walk towards it. The more attention you afford your plan of getting from one end of the block to the other the quicker you will arrive and so it is with moving from one emotional set-point to another.

Next you need to remind yourself that emotions guide you while you are here in this physical place and these emotions come from a part of you that is eternal and connected to the Source of All That Is in this universe. This guiding light part of yourself knows all about you and what you wanted to experience this lifetime and will continually guide you towards that. That is why you feel depressed if you are not anywhere near experiencing that which you came forth to be and do.

Depression is like a street sign telling you where you are. If you want to be on Maple Street and the street sign says Elm Street then you are not where you want to be and a driver who understands the signs will simply turn their car towards Maple Street even if Elm Street is the most popular street around and everyone they know hangs out there.

You physicals simply do not understand that you do not have to hang out where everyone else hangs out. You came forward with very clear understanding of where you wanted to be and if your emotions are other than positive you are not where you wanted to be.

This means that regardless of what society says you should want that you must follow your emotions towards what your heart says you want.

Remember that ‘not where you wanted to be’ regards both physical location (your job or current situation is not right for you) and mental location (your thoughts upon your job or situation are not right for you).

It may well be very scary to realize that some major changes in life course need to be taken to get you headed in the right direction. We assure you that gentle persistence will move you in the right direction and small changes continually over time will easily and gently get you where you want to go: out of depression and into enthusiasm.

Reason for Life

Question:  Is there any meaning or purpose or reason in the life we live other than to experience the Physical?

Higgins: Yes. It’s true, you are here for the pleasure of physical life. In a way, stepping into a physical realm is like going away for vacation. You go to experience something new, interesting or different from your usual day-to-day life.

You are also here to expand. You are here for Spiritual Growth. That’s why most of you pick a life that is somewhat challenging. Some of you pick an easy life from time to time, but there’s little challenge in that. You want to practice something new each time you play because it is causes greater expansion and is more interesting to the Broadest Aspect of Your Being.

The consciousness that you think of as self is not aware of the Broadest Aspect of Your Being. That Broad Aspect of You guides you towards those things that will stimulate spiritual growth. All you need do is ask to be guided towards that which you desire. Your Broadest Self, or some aspect of Infinite Intelligence, will inspire you towards action.

It really is a fun place to be, once you master the asking, inspiration and action part.

The Law of Economics

Question: You’ve started to share with us in live sessions on something called the Law of Economics. Will you define or describe that for the blog?

Higgins: Of course.

The Law of Attraction and the Law of Economics are tightly intertwined. The Law of attraction simply means that life experience is drawn to a person based on their emotional output. Life events will be a reflection of one’s emotional offering. When a person decides to apply the Law of Attraction with intent to create with purpose, then the Law of Economics engages.

The Law of Economics states there is a balance that must be maintained in all transactions. This is an energy exchange. In physical, many of you trade hours of work for dollars. Some of you trade goods or services. The currency used by the Law of Economics is energetic, vibrational, and emotional. When the emotion and vibration emitted equals the thing desired, then that thing, whatever it is, is passed over from non-physical to physical.

This means you must become the thing you want before you see the manifestation of it.
