How To Cope With A Harsh World

Question: How do we cope with such a harsh world?

Higgins: Mankind has forgotten what it is to be human. Mankind wishes for peace yet wages war and the reflection of this occurs not only on grand scales between countries but also on small-scale within homes or on playgrounds. Man acts out of harmony with his very desires and this has created the harshness you experience.

The best way to cope with the harshness playing out on Earth is to develop compassion. Kindness is a result of compassion. Compassion allows thoughts to flow like water. For water there are no obstacles. Water flows into, around or through all things. That is what the mind is like when compassion is at the forefront.

A mind that flows in compassion produces kindness and wherever kindness exists harshness recedes.

We appreciate the opportunity to answer this magnificent question. There is much love held for you in the non-physical realm.

Why Isn’t It Obvious That We Create Our Own Experience?

Question: If it is true that we create our own experience then why isn’t it obvious and why doesn’t everyone know how to do it?

Higgins: Friend, you do create your physical life and all the experiences contained within. You ask why it isn’t obvious that you do so and we reply, “It is obvious but most of you ignore the signage.”

When navigating a motor vehicle along a road there are street signs, posted speed limits, stop signs, signs saying wrong-way or one-way. Signs indicate yield, merge and lane-ends. The same signs exist for navigating life experience but you ignore them and then wonder why life is so bumpy. Life is bumpy because you’ve driven right off the smoothly paved road surface and are driving cross-country in the dark.

There was a time when everyone understood the rules of the game. Everyone understood the value of emotion and impulse and used them as guides or maps while exploring this physical environment. In that time mankind communicated with the Earth and with plants and animals, indeed all the inhabitants of the Earth realm. There was understanding without verbal communication.

The communication continues to be offered but you physicals, the majority of you, refuse to acknowledge the messages. And then you say, “Why did this awful thing happen to me?” or, “I didn’t know.” Well, the awful thing happened because the many, many signs you passed indicating you were heading in the wrong direction were ignored. And frankly, you did know. You just would rather not know that you know. You’d rather play the victim role than be accountable for your actions.

This is important, Friends. Freedom is in the very foundation of this physical realm. This includes freedom from physical pain and poor health, freedom from financial worries, freedom to prosper and flourish and laugh. Freedom is available to anyone who chooses to start following the signs for none other creates in your life experience.

Mankind is ever evolving, ever spiritually expanding, ever-growing. You seek growth. The Earth also is ever seeking its own spiritual growth and its path and yours are irrevocably intertwined. The Earth in its orbit within its own planetary system is as far from the nucleus of The Source of All That Is as it can get and therefore you are as far from your creative source as you can get. The distance, the separation you feel as physical beings stems from this. The distance is what has caused mankind to lose track of who and what you are and that is why you no longer know how to play the game.

Why Do Bad Things Happen?

Question: Why do bad things happen?

Higgins: Bad things don’t happen. It is only your perception of a thing that makes it good or bad. In truth, all things conspire towards your greatest good. All things are directional signs pointing the way to your happiness.

You physicals like to claim innocent. You prefer to believe that bad things happen to everyone in some sort of random lottery. Untrue. Bad things happen because at some point an alarm went off in your head or your heart or your stomach and you ignored it.

Begin listening when your ‘gut’ tells you something is amiss. Follow instinct and impulse for instinct and impulse will guide you away from what you do not want and towards a life full of positive experiences. And should a negative experience slip into your life greet it gratefully for it is a friend pointing a directional arrow to assist you in getting back on track.

Kindness is a Result of Compassion

Develop compassion. Compassion transcends all barriers. Since kindness is a result of compassion, this one action (development of compassion) will change your world.

How Do We Cope In A World Of Unkindness?

Question:  I do think that I was brought up to be kind to people.  I think it is a huge source of stress, frustration, that most people I meet are not kind.  That stress can cause and has caused health problems in me and in some other folks who were raised to be kind.  I do agree that for the most part the majority of the world does not have the kindness paradigm.  However, for those of us who do, or did, or have a little of it, how do we cope in the world of mostly  “not kind” folks????

Higgins: This question is a tempestuous sea of energy. Let’s try to sort it out. And Friend, read this slowly, sentence by sentence and paragraph by paragraph.

There are exceedingly few of you whose parents, or those doing the child rearing, do not make some attempt to teach kindness to their charges. However, in a society that has no kindness paradigm how can kindness be taught? Few of you know what it is to be kind and there is significant difference between kind acts and kindness. Kind acts can be taught and learned but kindness comes from inside.

So when you say most people you meet are not kind we’d suggest that what you are experiencing is someone (with perhaps exactly the same understanding of kindness that you have) who failed, in your presence, to express the kind acts they’ve been taught.

Genuine kindness and compassion is part of each of your Truths. This physical place is often scary and stressful for the harshness is out of synch with the very foundation of what you are. Though it is certain that carrying around incompatible vibration eventually leads to illness and dis-ease, illness is not developing in you because others are not kind. Illness and disease develop because you have forgotten to hold fast to your own Truth. You simply may not lay the blame of your ill-health on another for any reason.

To cope in a harsh world, one that overflows with behavior that is out of synch with Truth, one must develop compassion–for true kindness is a reflection of compassion. And that is how you cope. You develop compassion. You reflect true kindness. Then the universe will reflect the Truth you express right back at you, which is all it ever does anyway.

Why Do We Treat the People Closest to Us the Worst?

Question: Why do we treat the people closest to us the worst?

Higgins: Let’s start by saying that not all of you do treat the people you are closest to the worst. But most of you do at least sometimes and many of you do so habitually.

The short answer is that you do it because the other person allows you to do so. If the other person stood firmly in their Truth they would never allow any sort of mistreatment to occur. They would always seek to maintain a clean vibration in their own right, but when their own vibrational offering falters (and inevitably it does sometimes) then a person standing firmly in their Truth would, with great kindness, ask you to treat them better. And if they could not clean up their vibration quickly enough to keep from receiving verbal or physical abuse they would simply and gracefully remove themselves from your presence. Remember that in their Truth they would not stoop to an argument with you for that is too low a vibration.

However, nothing that occurs between you physicals is for one, it is always for both. That means your vibration is also coming into play. You would not treat the other badly if you did not allow yourself to do so by holding yourself apart from your own Truth. In Truth, none of you ever treat another badly. So what happens is that each of you has deviated from your Truth and have been drawn together in matching vibration. One of you is ready to treat another badly and one of you is ready to be treated badly. Really, you’re a perfect match.

When one party attempts to clean up their vibration and move towards treating others better or towards being treated better the other will instigate more and more situations to abuse or be abused and they do it unknowingly since there is an unseen need to match vibrations. The person who consciously shifts towards the higher vibration must be the emotional leader and not backslide as the other unwittingly seeks to maintain the abusive status quo. (This also explains why a person would move from one abusive relationship to another.)

Offering from Higgins:

The Universe conspires towards your greatest good. So think to yourself not, “What is this person doing to me?” Instead think, “What is this person doing for me?”

Fall-back Vibrational Level

Question:  You said that we have a base line vibratory level and that is the one we tend to fall back on when under stress (?) – did I get that correctly?  And, I can’t read my notes – and you can’t either probably ! but what I wrote was “the fall-back emotion is the easiest one to . . . . .   Then, once you have committed to making your life the best it can be, your broader self helps you meet your lower emotions head on so you can experience them fully.  Can you fill in that blank above??  or restate it in a different way that says the same thing.  Hope this makes sense.

Higgins:

The fall-back emotion is the easiest one to achieve. It rises to the surface the quickest.

Angry is an oft used fall-back emotion. First angry, then after a little time to process, a different and less defensive emotion is offered. Do you see yourself in this, Friend?

Then, once you have committed to making your life the best it can be, your broader self helps you meet your lower emotions head on so you can experience them fully. Emotions that are not experienced fully get stuck in you. Stuck emotions develop into difficult life experiences and eventually into ill-health.

Have you noticed how many times different people do a similar thing to you and it is O so irritating!? That’s because you draw unto you the irritating thing from people who have it to offer. Find your truth in there. Meet it head on. Experience your emotion regarding it fully. Then you will move on into a next higher baseline vibrational level. That is how you move up the emotional scale and that is how you continually improve your life.

And Friend, this is the work of Masters for it stings to look inward and find it was yourself all along who has caused all that pain. Everyone else simply was willing to assist you in every way possible.

Conflicts Reveal Areas for Spiritual Growth

Question: Hi Higgins, on Wednesday evening last you all were talking about dealing with people who may not be treating you very kindly.  A statement you made was something like this:  ”  Removing yourself from the situation or person for now may be necessary, but that is a master’s last resort.”  If the other person just won’t be nice or kind and continues to be abusive, then how can that change?  Isn’t it best not to keep going back for more and more abuse and being a victim?  Why is this a last resort instead of a smart move to keep oneself out of that vibrational level?

Higgins: Whenever you are in conflict with another human being what you are actually doing is showing each other your respective spiritual weak spots. If you are in harm’s way then of course we expect you to move out of harm’s way. But if you are not in danger then what we said stands.  A master will listen with compassion to what is being said. A master will find their own truth within the words then clean up their own vibration so that a similar situation will not be drawn into their experience in the future.

Remember, Friend, that a Master shuns no one.

Finding Solutions

Offering from Higgins:

(Note from Cheryl: this topic regards interpersonal relationships.)

Look for solutions. Solutions are found inside yourself. Solutions do not involve cooperation or agreement from another person. If your solution involves another person then it is not a solution because solutions are always about you and who you are within the context of any given situation.

Whatever your situation, and it may truly seem to be caused by the action (or lack of action) of another person, there is a solution and the solution always lies within self. Solutions are always kind. Solutions always bring relief. Solutions are always available if you are willing to suss them out.
